Variance Tool in MoTeC

Today we are going to explore the Variance Tool in MoTeC. What is it and how do we use it? Have a look in the video below to find out more!

The variance tool should be enabled by default. Its such an easy tool to master and know where time can be gained.

So expanding a bit on the video, you can think of the variance tool similar to the lap time delta seen in game on the top left:

Whenever we are in the green (i.e. faster), the variance tool graph will be in the negative, and whenever we are in the red (i.e slower), the variance tool graph will be in the positive. I didn't include a screenshot in my video, but looking back I should have. Would have made the explanation a bit shorter. Of course this is assuming that your main selected lap is the fastest lap, and that the overlay lap is slower.

And for those curious, this is what the graph would look like if we were to select a slower Main Lap and a faster Overlap lap in MoTeC:

Compared to the graph shown in the video, most of the line in the graph is in the negative region. This should make sense as our overlay lap is the faster of the two laps selected.

I hope this helped you understand a little bit better on how to use the Variance Tool and I hope you have a good day.
